personal :: im outtie
Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 02:57 am i see people making posts like this all the time, what are basically personal posts. so i don't see why i can't make this post.
im out. im done with the dreamwidth community. now this break-up post would usually say something like "it's not you, it's me"...
(it's under the cut, my reasons. please respect them. also, if you don't think you can handle criticism and negativity...don't look.)
but it's you. i don't like the direction that this community is going in. i think that the majority of people on this site have a lot to learn about writing and how the literature community on the internet works. on other websites, grammar and spelling are both very important. if you get yourself a beta, this beta is going to be cruel at times and that'd be all for the best.
as a beta, you can't be gentle. you have to point out errors, that's how the real business works. and, hey, maybe this is all just for fun. and maybe i shouldn't take things to seriously. a spelling mistake isn't a big deal, i've made them and i'll continue to make them. i don't have a beta though, and i never have. your job as a beta is to take things seriously.
as real person fiction authors, we are looked down upon. the least we can do is make our fics polished and neat, so people are hard pressed to find reason to dislike us. that was what the salad was like when it first started, and how it has been, up until a few months back. the attention, of course, would get the community to grow, but we shouldn't be going down in quality. and, unfortunately, that's been where we've been stepping.
i bet you're all thinking something a long the lines of "hey, this breaks rule number one!". and, if it does, i don't want to be a part of a community where constructive criticism is considered "being a dick".
you all need to learn that constructive criticism is perfectly okay.
also, there are far too many personal posts. get a tumblr, please. that's where i do 80% of my complaining.
it's really been real though. you've been great for most of my time here. it's not without regret that i'm leaving, i really wish i could stick around. i still encourage all of you to keep writing, keep doing what you love on a website that i used to love. :~)
i'm not done with mindcrack work though. find me on tumblr, fanfictionolivia. in fact, there is a decent amount of fic on there that i haven't posted here, and it's all easier to find. i'm also multi-fandom, creatures/mindcrack/yogscast and i was roosterteeth.
if you have any questions for me, feel free to ask. i'll answer them to the best of my ability. also i hope that you don't take this as an attack of some sort, or some way of starting drama because that is never my intention ever.
