Songfic - Never Too Late by Three Days Grace
Wednesday, July 16th, 2014 02:22 pmI thought of this at like 7 this morning and didn't get around to getting it out until now. I haven't listened to anything other than this song for the last few hours. I love it! But this story is kinda sad, so expect a few feels if I wrote this well.
“Pause, stop! This isn’t the answer! It won’t bring him back!” I yelled out to my friend who was standing at the edge of the tallest building in spawntown.
“Why not Guude? I can see him again. We can be happy, and I can apologize for all of the wrongs I did. Etho deserves it, and so does… I don’t deserve to live here any more.” He put the lead around his neck and put around the fencepost he had put down. I reached for something in my pocket I hoped would keep Pause here.
“Pause!” He turned to look at the piece of paper in my hand. It was a picture Beef had drawn of him, Etho and Pause having a good time throwing eggs at each other with some angry chickens in the background. He had just finished it before the accident, and I found it when I went into his house to collect his things for storage.
“That’s… Us. When we had the egg fight. We were having so much fun… Guude, where did you get that?”
“Beef drew it for you. He had wanted to give it to you because he knew you had loved doing that so much. You talked about it for weeks, so he worked on it for days, trying to get the day perfectly captured.” Pause looked from he to the picture and back to the rooftop we were on. He took the rope from his neck and dropped it to the wooden beams.
“Beef…” was all he said before his body became wracked by huge sobs and he cried out, his shattered heart reminding him of what he had lost.
“It’s never too late to fix things Pause. You have to live on for their sake. We’ll be alright here.”
“But they aren’t here to enjoy this moment with me… Guude, will you come over later?”
“Sure Pause. Why?”
“I don’t want to talk here, and I want to take a while to reflect. Can I have the *sniff* the picture?”
“Of course guy! He was going to give it to you after all.”
--
“Beef, I’m back,” I called out to the large shrine I had built for him and Etho when they died. Everyone had come to put something on it. Guude had put some butcher’s knives and a shuriken on them, Seth put some redstone on Etho’s, and the other guys had all done something to show their personalities and quirks. He loved them, but he couldn’t bear to leave the room he had made them in, so he had moved a single blanket into the room along with a pillow and slept next to Beef’s. It was the only way he felt safe and like he could live another day. But today, he knew he had to change something.
“I don’t want to disappoint you, but I’m not leaving this world naturally. I’m sorry Guude…” He brought up the dagger he had made out of the metal gifts the others had brought.
“I love all of you and hope you remember me.”
“Pause? Pause no!” was the last thing I heard before I plunged the knife into my throat and fell to the floor, laying there calmly, accepting my fate.
“It’s never too late huh? I disagree Guude. Etho and Beef had no say in that, and it’s my fault. I killed them, and I knew that there was the possibility of that. I want to be with them now.”
“Pause… no…” I heard Guude whisper to me before death closed in on my body and I drifted out into the abyss.
Beef, Etho, I’m coming, I told myself. We can stay together for eternity here. Maybe it’s not too late to say I can’t be with you guys after all.

Lyrics:
This world will never be
What I expected
And if I don't belong
Who would have guessed it
I will not leave alone
Everything that I own
To make you feel like it's not too late
It's never too late
Even if I say
It'll be alright
Still I hear you say
You want to end your life
Now and again we try
To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
No one will ever see
This side reflected
And if there's something wrong
Who would have guessed it
And I have left alone
Everything that I own
To make you feel like
It's not too late
It's never too late
Even if I say
It'll be alright
Still I hear you say
You want to end your life
Now and again we try
To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
The world we knew
Won't come back
The time we've lost
Can't get back
The life we had
Won't be ours again
This world will never be
What I expected
And if I don't belong
Even if I say
It'll be alright
Still I hear you say
You want to end your life
Now and again we try
To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late (It's never too late)
It's not too late
It's never too late
