Because I feel like I need one.

So, I'm Isi, and apparently the only one not using a sockpuppet name, for a couple reasons. For one, I guess I didn't get the memo that it's almost expected here (at least, it's kind of the norm?), and I'm terrible at coming up with new names for myself anyway. Also, I'm always pleasantly surprised when a website allows me to just be Isi, so I couldn't pass that up. Usually the name's already taken, or the website doesn't allow for names that short. Plus I'd feel like I'd need to obscure who I am elsewhere to protect my fakey-fake identity here, and I guess I don't feel any need to do that (but I get why other people might want to), and I don't want to have to censor myself by not saying anything that might connect me to my reddit name. So I am who I am. *shrug*

Anyway, this is a community I was told I might like, so I'll give it a try. This place seems pretty friendly and casual, which I like. The reddit's great and all, but there's always that underlying pressure to only say something if it's clever or insightful, lest you attract the dreaded downvoters. There's not always freedom to just chat about whatever, so this could be a nice change of pace.

Confession time: I've never been into fanfic, like, at all. I don't know why. If I try to read some, even if the source material is something I really enjoy, my eyes immediately glaze over and I never get more than a few lines in before I start skimming. What's funny is that fan art does a lot of the same things, just in visual form, and I love fan art. I never felt the need to ever write fanfic either... Well. There's a few caveats there. What happens is sometimes something will inspire me, and where normal people will just write their fanfic in that situation, I'll go to great lengths to convince myself it's not really fanfiction. I'll integrate it with my own personal spin on the characters and events until I've turned it into an original idea. In fact a lot of what I'm writing now was originally inspired by Mindcrack in some way.

I think that's enough blabbing for now. Maybe tell me a bit about yourselves or the kind of stuff you like? Also, I'm making up a new tag for this. I couldn't figure out what else to put. I hope it's okay.

Welcome! I hope you like it here, even though it does seem to focus rather heavily on fanfic and shipping. I do like fanfic/art but I've yet to produce any for MindCrack myself. So it's certainly still possible to enjoy the comm without reading/writing fic.

I don't think you can make tags, the moderator has to do it, haha. But we should have an introductions thread.

Yeah, I figured the community was for more than just fanfic, even though that is a big part of it. Actually, when I first heard about this place, the name reminded me of that novelty erotica account, but looking around now after getting the invite, I can see that's not quite the case, and there's more here than that sort of stuff.

And, yes, I tried to make an introductions tag. I can see that didn't work as intended.

Hahaha, yeah. There is some erotic fiction here, but it's a bit more tasteful in nature, I think. But is also somewhat why a lot of us want a bit of anonymity. But the nice thing is you don't HAVE to be anonymous if you don't want to. :D

I may as well take this opportunity to discuss the origins of this community, which may explain much of the sockpuppeting and such.

There's a community known as fandomsecrets where people post, well, fandom secrets, sort of in the style of PostSecret but with specifically fannish content. I'd been a Mindcrackhead for a few months and sent this in to the community:



A few people responded to me positively, encouraging me to make a kink meme. If you're not familiar with kink memes, they're basically mostly-anonymous places for people to comment with (generally kinky) prompts for others to write and draw. I made this user account as a host for a prompt meme, which would be open for anything - both prompts and discussion, both kinky and not. I also made the Reddit sockpuppet you guys have run into; there's also a Youtube/Gmail account with the same name, mostly for access to Google Docs for fic writing.

The prompt meme was great, but the interface is unwieldy, especially for posting longer fanfics, and it's difficult to organize and tag things for future use, so a community was proposed and has now been made. I'm very grateful that you guys are participating - it's been a lot of fun!

But yes, with that history, a past of anonymity makes a lot of sense. :P I have never objected in either direction, and it's now an open secret what my "identity" is anyway. That being said, a small border between the "me" that interacts with the Mindcrackers in even the smallest way and the "me" that ships them is probably not a terrible thing to have.

Alright, enough of that silliness, here's some stuff about me. :P So I'm the moderator,also known as kawatan, and I am a long time shipper and fic writer, mostly anime/manga and athlete RPF. This is the first time I've run a community though, and you guys have made it awesome, so thank you so much! <3

Well currently I have Cobblehaters flair on the reddit, because it's kind of like being Team MC, Team Pakratt, and Team Nebris all at once. :P Previously I had MC flair, but kept considering changing to Pak. I also previously had Nebris flair, so Cobblehaters all works out. I also quite enjoy Guude and Kurt.

Ahahaha, Cobblehaters seems very suitable then, INDEED! I think that'll please mindcrack_love as well since she's a MC/Nebris fan and I don't think a lot of the rest of us are quite as into them as she is.

Of course I love most all of them, but I'm a big fan of Beef myself.

Neat, thanks for the background info. I have heard of kink memes before. I'm friended with someone on my LJ who does those all the time, so I've seen the kind of prompts involved. This is just my first experience actually being in a community that does that sort of thing. I used to think it was weird, having never been involved in that side of fandom, but I'm slowly starting to "get" it, I think. Obviously I gave someone the impression that I was "ship friendly," which, yeah, I can think of a few things I've said that could give that impression, but it's all silly fun to me. I've never shipped anyone in earnest from any fandom. I've still got that distinction between fangirl me and the other parts of me.

Oh yes, Beef is always a good option as well. He was one of the first other Mindcrackers after Guude I branched out to after I was initially introduced to the server through Etho and the prank wars. From Guude and Beef I got into the rest of Team Nancy Drew with UHC 1 and 2, then everyone else came through other UHC seasons.

Oh yes, I do love me some MC. And it's not even necessarily his content, even though I do like his videos. I like him more on a person level, you know?

Yeah, that's definitely it for me. I think he's very brave for choosing to do Youtube full time when he did - the others have had past jobs and have other skills, but MC decided to pursue it above going to college, which is crazy. I'm so happy he's pursuing his passion and I want him to be really happy, and that's probably the biggest reason he's my flair.

Also, he called me cute once.

D'awww, that's adorable. I've actually developed this odd little urge to hug him. Like, I've considered submitting a question to his Unnamed Question Show just to ask, "In the unlikely event that we meet, can I hug you?" It's practically a bucket list goal. XD

I'm using a sock puppet as well, and from the name you can probably guess who my favorite Mindcracker is.

I'm mostly here less for the erotic and sexual parts of the fanfics, and more because I just like watching people "click." The interactions between some of the MindCrackers are really neat and interesting, and, to use a word that makes me sound lame, fascinating. It really is. Anyway, I'm the person whose art is on the PauseUnpause subreddit, and I guess you can see some more art that I've done here (and here, my tumblr). I guess I was waiting for the fanart prompt or an introduction thread, but the thread came first.

I'm sort of in between on the erotic stuff myself. I have no problem with it, and am happy to come up with scenarios, but I don't really ship any of the guys myself, so it's hard for me to participate with regards to that. I want to, I just don't for whatever reason. But I definitely like all the bromance and teasing, and it's nice to have a place to flail about that's a little less "in your face" as Reddit.

Yeah, sorry if I sort of hijacked the thread a bit, I just felt it would be 'cleaner' if intros were in one thread???

Obviously I love almost anything with Zisteau. He has like, multiple facets of his personality depending on who he's talking to. With Kurt, he's not super loud, so Kurt gets a chance to speak, unlike when he's with Nancy Drew or something. And when he's with Pause... I guess that's my favorite. They don't do a bunch of stuff together, but when they do it's a lot of "Pause working to please Zisteau" and whoops I guess my kinks are showing lemme just... tuck that away....

Besides that, I like OOG and Etho and Pause, back when they did stuff together. I've since stopped watching Pause (sometimes he plays the rage thing too much). I used to watch MC but he talks so fast it tires me out just listening to him. :( I feel the same way about Pyro and Anderz, they just talk so fast and Anderz swears so much it's hard for me to feel comfortable watching them.

I don't think that's what you asked me but there it is anyway. :T

And obviously I freakin' love fan art, it's my thing really.

I sure was, haha. I had posted about Kurt/Zisteau before in the old prompt, too.

The bromance is the best part! Like I said the interactions are the best part, and in the end, for me, anything more sexual is just a bonus and I guess, deepening the relationship. Reddit is sort of biased towards "anything done by Gomeric, Six, and RedDye, and bromances aren't really bromances." It can be also harsh when it comes to things like friendly shipping and anything not Minecraft.

I've found Reddit to be surprisingly cool about all the shipping and bromance. I think it helps that Guude's usually right the defending the shippy art and bromance stuff. But there's still a line, and you know that Guude IS right there. Even if he doesn't comment, there's a fair chance that he's seen, and even if he doesn't mind, it's still a little weird. It's not so much wanting to hide, but just sort of like not needing to show some of this stuff off. It's nice to know Guude doesn't care, but it doesn't mean I want him looking at it, either, ahaha.

So there's just a bit more freedom here. I don't have to watch what I say as much, not just for Guude up for Public Opinion of Me, or something. Even more basic things like "OMG HOW FUCKING SEXY IS BEEF'S VOICE" or something. A thread like that would be fine at Reddit, but it's just easier to flail about it in a safe space like this more.

(also omg Beef's voice help, he did a laugh in the latest sleeping dogs that I just want to crop out as a wav except I'd listen to it a bunch and then I might be dead if I did because its that nice)

Nah, you're not hijacking. If I knew there were others waiting to jump in, I would have made a more general intro thread.

I like Zisteau too, but my favorite "facet" of Zisteau is not the ones where he's with other people. It's the super hostile maps. Nothing has made me love Zisteau the way that Kaizo Caverns and Legendary made me love him.

Anyways hi, welcome, it's awesome having more people, and I love this place because I feel like none of my Mindcrackers can see what I'm saying so I can say anything, whereas on the Reddit you know that most if not all of them are watching if not commenting. Talking about how sexy their voices are or discussing their drinking habits is a little odd when they can see it, you know?
