Many times, you’d might stumble across a great fic and absolutely love it. Maybe it’s a chapter fic and you’ve got no idea when or where to find the rest of the chapters in the series, maybe you remember the title but scrolling through hundreds of pages of fics is incredibly painful, maybe you just feel like reading fics from a particular author, genre, character, or maybe even you’re just looking for some nice smut to begin the day with.
Finding old fics has always been rather frustrating and annoying, but with the Salad Files Project, doing so is about to get a whole lot easier. The Salad Files Project is the ongoing cataloguing, archiving, and categorisation of all literary works ever posted to the Salad with the purpose of making finding fics a quick and easy task.
(Please note that this release is a bare-bones beta release and while it is still very much functional and helpful, there is definitely more to come in terms of categorisation and other little secret extras that are currently being planned.)

Grouping Tag Key Jan 2014
How It Works
The spreadsheet (the main part of the Salad FIles) in its current version consists of eight columns: Date, link, title, author, series tag, grouping tag 1, grouping tag 2, and special.
- All dates are listed in dd/mm/yyyy format and should be ordered chronologically.
- Links lead directly to the url of the fics (no paywalls or adfly or anything just pure links to the dreamwidth except for cases of x-posts linked to external sites which have been looked over and confirmed to be fics.
- The title is either the whole title, a shortened but easily distinguishable version, or untitled if as such. Chapters / parts are noted as well as the series name where applicable.
- Author is the one who made the post to mindcrack_love though in the fic post itself it should be noted if it was written by another.
- The series tag is a two or sometimes 3 letter tag in the format of [Xx] or [yyy] that defines which series the fic is a part of. A list of these series tags with the name of the series can be found in the Grouping Tag Key file.
- The grouping tags tag the entry under special categories such as nsfw. A list of these can be found at the top of the Grouping Tag Key file.
- And Special lists any special notes about the entry such as any trigger warnings that a reader may need to be aware of.
To find a particular fic, author, or series, press ctrl+f (cmd+f on mac?) and type in the term you want to search for. When searching for grouping and series tags be sure to use the brackets [ and ] in your search.
You can also press view, list for a view where you can choose to only display results with a certain term in that column such as only showing [nsfw] fics. Clicking the title of that column can be used to cycle through the database being sorted A-Z and Z-A using that column which is handy for finding a fic that starts with a certain letter that you can’t remember the full name of. Ctrl+f can also be used on the Grouping Tag Key key doc to find the series tag of a particular series if you know that series’ name.
Each month, a new release shall be posted with an updated list including all the fics from the month before. The current version lists all fics up until but not including February 1st.
A special thankyou to the Salad Files Project team for helping put this together and providing their ongoing dedication to keeping this project alive. All the kudos to apositi, ficeny, syfy_girl, theropod, and silvercheers.
Also, if you have any questions feel free to comment below or send me a PM, and note that if you wish to help out, I shall make an official announcement requesting for new team members when phase 3 is initialised.
I hope you enjoy!
