So, I should really write this before the events that inspired it become too outdated. This is the continuation of what I've decided to call "the golden record mythos." Check out the first part here if you haven't read it before. This part details the most recent tragedy surrounding the curse of the golden record, as seen during MC Gamer's recent livestream marathon.
~~~~~
The disc had awakened.
A new seeker lifted the golden record from its resting place. He was naive, and overconfident. With such nonchalance he snacked on fruit while a slew of newly generated skeletons raged around him. He knew of the curse it carried, but disregarded the warnings of his friend, a sheep man who was present the last time the disc's curse was evoked.
Last time... It had not forgotten. It had stolen Wolfie from that reality, but the Time Lord managed to bring him back. The disc could not forgive that.
Its current holder would not fall easily. Clothed in the most powerful armor, he made jest of the number of arrows fired upon him with little effect. But the disc cared little for him. There were other ways to attack him for his lack of concern for its curse, other ways to use this new surge of power.
Sure enough, the disc sensed another canine presence connected to this man. It could not stand these worthless pets, especially not after last time. Even through the geographical distance, the disc quietly took care of the wolf, a bitter surprise for when its overconfident holder returned from adventuring. And even though he did dispose of the disc's physical copy before he found his pet gone, it wouldn't save him from the curse clinging to him a while longer.
He sought replacements for his lost pet, but the curse infected them like a virus, turning them on his sheep friend with no provocation. Not long after, they too would vanish just as mysteriously as the first had. Somewhere once again hidden in darkness, the disc fed on their lost souls.
