Theropod Plays Pokemon Version Mindcrack: 4
Wednesday, November 7th, 2012 03:59 pmI figure we could use some cute critters to cheer us all up after the terrible rumour we've been hearing. Onwards for the second gym battle!

For this one, I levelled everyone up to level 20 - well, I say everyone, I mean I levelled Zisteau, Kurt and Beef. I got tired for training MC and Vechs so they're 18 and they won't be getting used for this fight because MC is weak to the gym type which is just asking for trouble. I know that Vechs is due to evolve at level 20 but he's kind of a pain to grind with no good moves on low levelled pokemon in the area. He'll be first priority once we move on to a new area, promise.
But first, a quick update! While I was grinding, this glorious thing happened:
Congratulations! Your Zisteau evolved into Pignite!
Aww, our pigman is growing up so fast! But for now, onto a team move update, since several of our guys learned new moves while grinding.
Zisteau: Tackle, Flame Charge, Rock Smash, Arm Thrust
Kurt: Bite, Work Up, Tackle, Take Down
Beef: Secret Power, Return, Refresh, Double Slap
Vechs: Scratch, Fury Swipes, Thief, Pursuit
MC: Mega Drain, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf, Grass Whistle
I forgot to mention Beef's ability last time, it's Regenerator, meaning when he's switched out of a fight, he heals a little of his health :D Also, when Kurt evolved, he lost his Pickup ability sadly and now has Sand Rush, which means he moves faster inside a sandstorm, though sandstorm probably still hurts him sadly since he's not a rock or ground type.
Anyways, moving on.
First up is the trainer battles. Zisteau is the one in charge here, lets see how it goes!
... The pokemon is level 14. We may have overlevelled again... Zisteau charges in, wreathed in flame to take his opponents Grimer down to red health! The Grimer retaliates with a Pound to the face that Zisteau shrugs off with barely a blink. With a smirk, he charges again and the Grimer is no more! The trainer sends out a Koffing next, which Zisteau charges down to half health. A tackle from it is no more effective than a pound and yet another charge of flame sends it to the ground!
Zisteau levelled up! :D
Next up is the second gym trainer. I'd meant to switch to Kurt so he could have a go but whoops, Zisteau's up again and with a single flaming charge, the opposing Venipede is sent packing! Out comes a Koffing and a flame charge takes it down to red health. Suddenly, Zisteau is surrounded by a cloud of purple gas, coughing. He's been poisoned! But what's this? He takes out a Pecha berry (which I gave him earlier) and eats it. curing the poison before it can damage him! One Flame charge later and the Koffing with its dirty tricks is out of the game!
This time I remembered to switch to Kurt and with that team shuffle, we're onto the gym leader herself, Roxie. She sends out a level 16 Koffing to meet Kurt, who greets the floating ball of noxious gas with a bite. The Koffing smacks him back with an Assurance which does very little damage. Kurt uses Work up to boost his attack and special attack while the Koffing uses another assurance. A powered up bite from Kurt takes it down to a sliver of red health and the Koffing flinches, unable to attack! Seeing his chance, Kurt moves in for the final bite...
Roxie used Super Potion!
Damnit! The bite still lands however and takes the now fully healed Koffing down to half health. Kurt gets off another Bite before anything can happen and takes it out of the battle for good.
Its at this point I choose to switch to Zisteau when Roxie goes to send in her Whirlipede, because Zisteau has a type advantage here with the fire attack. It's level 18. Zisteau uses a Flame charge and right away, the Whirlipede is brought down to a sliver of health. However, it's Poison Point ability poisons Zisteau and it's next attack takes off a fair amount of life. I decide to risk another attack - and the flame charge lands, knocking out the Whirlipede and netting us our second win!
Thero received the Toxic Badge from Roxie!
She also gives us a TM, Venoshock.
Before I know it, I'm gettng dragged off by some mad man going on about Star Potential - he wants us to be in movies...Well, these guys ARE LPers, lets see what he wants...Oh, we have to use rental pokemon at first... Hm. Well, something for later perhaps. I gave it shot and somehow the movie got a fan who gave me free lemonade. Yay healing items!
Of course then plot takes over and I have to kick the crap out of some pokemon thieves - who all have costumes which remind me of Etho actually. Kurt bites them and its over, huzzah for Kurt! And we get an HM out of the deal, Cut!
Now, onwards we sail to Castelia City! And I'm barely off the boat for a moment before a clown is giving me a Bike. Exploring the city gives me: Quick Claw, TM Rest, Heart Scale, Exp. Share (YESSSSS), Charcoal (handy for Zisteau), TM Flash, Destiny Knot, TM Attract, Amulet Coin, Pokeball, more Charcoal... And then as I was about to try and escape to Route 4 for a new catch, Bianca appeared and gave me the dowsing machine so I can find more hidden items, yay!
To route 4 - oh god damnit there's nothing but trainers in my way, argh. Time to kick some butt so we can end with a new friend...Once again, I had to say how much I love Kurts defensive stats, he's a real tank.
And now to the catch...
Sandile! Male, lvl 14, Ground/Dark typing.
Now, again I'm torn for names. I could call him Guude, because I kind of want to. I could call him Avidya, because they live in the sand (sandstone anyone?), wear glasses (Sandile looks like it's wearing glasses and theres an item he can hold to boost dark type moves called Blackglasses) and overall the colouring is pretty similar. I'm torn. For the moment, i think I might go with...
Avidya! Rash nature, likes to run. Ability: Moxie (Boosts attack after knocking out a pokemon)
Huh, maybe I should have called him Pause with that nature and flavour text XD I could change the name but I'm please with that for the moment, unless people wish it changed?
And that's all for this update. For the next, there's a lot of ships around this town and most of them seem to have trainers on them or go places. I could do an update on that stuff once I've brought Avidya up to a satisfactory level if you guys liked, or I can just get straight to the gym. Up to you guys, comment away about this and the new member's name :D
Oh, and we now have a full team! Which means I can do this:

That image will disappear in 30 days but hey, I'll get off my butt and photobucket it later.
That's all folks!

Date: Wednesday, November 7th, 2012 11:31 pm (UTC)Avidya is perfect for the coloring of Sandile, (it even has the sunglasses look to it!) though I agree that the nature ability doesn't seem too fitting. I say keep it as Avidya though, it still works, haha.
(I totally need to art the guys I haven't drawn yet. I am feeling tingles of inspiration. Hmmm..)
