mindcrackloveWelcome back! We've had some glorious fanart of the team by the lovely Lurky, see below for links! In this episode, we're taking on our first gym leader in our home town of Aspertia. Will we survive? Will it be a total team kill? Find out...now!
Zisteau & Vechs

First of all, lets have a team line-up, just so you guys know exactly where we stand!
Zisteau: Lvl 15 Tepig. Moves: Tackle, Flame Charge, Ember, Odor Sleuth. Ability: Blaze (ups fire type moves when low on health)
Vechs: Lvl 15 Purrloin. Moves: Scratch, Fury Swipes, Assist, Pursuit. Ability: Limber (prevents paralysis)
MC Gamer: Lvl 15 Sunkern. Moves: Mega Drain, Leech Seed, Ingrain, Grass Whistle. Ability: Solar Power (raises Sp Attack in sun, lowers health every turn sun shines)
Kurt: Lvl 15 Lillipup. Moves: Bite, Oder Sleuth, Tackle, Take Down. Ability: Pickup (picks up items)
Before we do this, lets talk a little about the guys. Of all of them, Vechs & MC worry me because they are both very fragile. I'm going into this gym battle possibly over levelled but I am seriously worried. Neither of them can handle hits very well. MC's moves all centre around healing himself while whittling down the opponents HP which is fine in practice but if he' getting hit, it's still possible he'll be down in one hit. Vechs is very fast, its his highest stat (28 if you're curious, highest of the team) but he has no decent moves yet. I'm hoping to get a good TM from this gym to teach him. Kurt and Zisteau are pretty good at handling hits and at dishing them out. While not the fastest, they have good moves and they should be able to either pull off one hit knockouts or at least be able to tank a hit or two to wipe the floor with the opponent. They're both probably going to be used.
I haven't looked ahead to see what this gym is like. I've got no idea what's waiting for us, so this could end badly. I just hope level 15 is enough...
The gym trainers went down alright. I got worried the first time because I hadn't levelled enough so I ran away to get everyone to lvl 15 (yay for paranoia), came back and Zisteau curb stomped the second trainer, taking only 7hp of damage.
Now for the gym leader himself...Cheren.
He leads with a lvl 11 Patrat. I lead with Zisteau. One Flame Charge from Zisteau brings it to half health and it spends a turn increasing its attack. Another Flame Charge from Zisteau brings it down.
He sends out a lvl 13 Lillipup. Zisteau outdoes himself with a CRITICAL HIT on Flame Charge, knocking it out and winning the Gym Battle for us! And he even levels up while doing so! Zisteau is amazing, did I ever tell you?
This win nets us our first badge, the Basic Badge! And the TM Work Up. It increases attack and special attack but I don't really need such a thing right now. Maybe for strategy in the future.
That was surprisingly easy. I guess I did overlevel a little. Oh well :D
Stepping outside, we are approached by Bianca and she gifts us a second TM, Return. Its power increases the more the pokemon loves its trainer, the opposite of frustration. Very handy. Just who to give it to... and then just after this, Kurururrurururururrrrr runs past to challenge the gym leader. Oh Kurruuurururr...
Now, this new badge means we can advance past Floccesy and on to new areas, which mean new partners! Are we ready? LETS GO!
Oh, and I should mention. That perfect Millbee pokemon? The only place to catch it was that Ranch >( Unless I can get a working internet connection to let my DS connect to the weird dream world thing where you can catch pokemon, I won't be able to get the perfect MillbeeMon :(
Moving on...
While on the way to the new town, Kurt was trouncing trainers when he levelled up! And then...DUN DUN DUN - Kurt is evolving! Congratulations! Your Kurt evolved into Herdier! Aw Kurt, the first to evolve!
Just at the gate into the new city Virbank, a woman stops us and tells us that if we travel with more pokemon, it's more fun! She then gives us free Great Balls! Yay free stuff but I don't think she gets the concept of a Nuzlocke...
At Virbank Complex we can catch a pokemon, so lets see who we get...
Audino, male, lvl 11, Normal type.
Yeah, I accidently ran into quaking grass when running around, so my first encounter was this guy. Not that there's anything wrong, I'm just not sure I need another normal type when I heard from the townspeople there were steel types which would have been handy for the upcoming gym. Now, Audino's are known to give out lots of experience and heal pokemon fighting them. They're very sweet and kind, very much helpful when they don't have to be. I'm torn for names again. I'm thinking of either Beef or Bdubs actually. Though the healing thing did make me wanna call it Doc for lols really. With the creamy pattern down the front and those blue eyes, I'm thinking Beef. The cream is kind of like his apron and those big cute blue eyes - yes, Beef it is.

Then right after I ran into a Koffing - thank you for saving me from that, Beef.
While wandering around the complex, I found the Thief TM, so I'm going to teach that to Vechs. Return is going to be used on Beef, which will be useful when he actually likes me. Pretty sure he's not impressed with the way I had Vechs claw him down to barely any health.
Hmm, aside from Gym grinding, I think that's all for this update. We can't move any further onwards until we do the gym because of reasons, so time for some grinding. Need to get Beef caught up to the rest of the team and then get ourselves ready to take on this Poison type gym.
