Day 20 - VintageBeef
Friday, December 20th, 2013 11:32 pmEDIT: 21.05.2014
...In hindsight, I realize how 'burned out' I was getting with positng these stories daily. This one is the best example for that. The fact that I was running out of time and was really stressed in general was not helpfull to the cause.
Looking back, a lot of these need to be labled as "writing exercise" or "experimental", but not as propper storys.
Still, I will leave them up and finish what I started; as a reminder for myself and example on how to NOT do it for others.
I am also going back, labeling these for the Master List of stories; adding some form of summary while I am at it.
Day 20. We're getting there, everyone, we're getting there =D
Summary: Numbers, Signs and Questions unanswered.
Genre: Mystery, Gen
Day 20 - VintageBeef
“So, all it says is ‘forth’? Nothing else? No names, no information, nothing?” Beef looked at Kurt curiously. When the farlander simply nodded he leaned back in his seat, scratching his beard.
“Why would someone place a sign like that in your shelter? Was there anything else changed?”
“Not as far as I am aware. It’s just that sign.”
“How strange.” Beef took a bite from his porkchop. “Why forth?”
Kurt shook his head. “I have no idea. If you just go by location, there seems to be no pattern between the signs.” At this VintageBeef raised his eyebrows. “Wait, so there are more signs at your hideout?”
“No. They are all over the place; at spawn, in the hub, in some of the shops and in some homes too. I have spoken to Guude earlier and he knew about signs in his place, over by Paulsoares, in Adlingtonts castle and in over where Zisteau lived for a while” Kurt paused, pouring himself a new glass of water. “So far there have been found numbers from two to fourteen, number seventeen and the numbers from nineteen to thirty-one.”
“Oh man. Sounds like this is part of a very elaborate prank. Watch out for yourself, who knows who’s behind this.”
They finished their meal in silence. Beef kept thinking about the signs with the numbers. They were harmless enough on their own, but at the same time they could just be the first step of something huge. Maybe he should accompany Kurt, inspect the signs on his own. Maybe he would find a clue that had been overlooked before? Probably not, but if nothing else, his curiosity demanded it.
Meanwhile, at the Lily Pad, a baby villager was crying. It had hurt it’s head by running into a sign that had just one word on it: first.
Prompt linked to VintageBeef: First
