Fanfic: A Common Interest pt. 2
Saturday, August 17th, 2013 07:22 pmAs promised, here is part two! I loved your kind words on pt. 1. Thank you so much! I love you all!
They made it back to the boys' dormitory safe and sound, around 5:30 pm. Their conversation had gone on for what seemed like forever, covering a variety of topics. By the end of it they had exchanged cell numbers and room numbers. Etho was about to turn around and walk a back to his room when a final thought crossed his mind. "Oh, and Nebris. The Japanese Club meets after school Thursdays in the 3rd art room. I'll see you there next week?" He asked.
"Uh, yeah. I meet you at the library, since I know how to find that." Nebris replied, making Etho laugh. "Alright then, see you tomorrow in Computer Science." He said, waving to Nebris. "Yeah see you!" Nebris returned to wave as they went their separate way to their dorms. Etho's was on the west end of the dorm, whereas Nebris' was the fourth down on the east side. Nebris took his key out of his pocket and went to unlock the door, but found to his surprise that the door was unlocked. His roommate was already inside. He opened the door, greeted by his black hair roommate, Pakratt. Nebris put his bag on the desk and sat down on his bed, getting out his mp3 and headphones, ready to dose off listening to more Japanese lessons.
"So how was your day?" Pakratt asked him. Nebris stopped fiddling around with the cable to answer. "Pretty good. Met up with Etho today. It turns out he know Japanese too." Nebris responded. Pakratt made a noise of acknowledgement, face buried in a notebook. Pakratt wasn't the boy's real name, but a nickname based on his lifestyle. He was extremely disorganized and kept everything, literally everything. He didn't mind really, Pakratt actually liked the name and decided to go by Pak normally. At the moment, he was writing in his notebook; some "ponderies" he called them. To Nebris, they were a bunch of ideas or concepts that made absolutely no sense. But Nebris wasn't one to complain about it, he had his weird quirks too. Like Japanese. They got along pretty well the first week of school.
"Huh, so you're finding that indeed the world is smaller than you think." Pak said, looking up from his Ponderies. Nebris looked at him, before turning on his side with a grunt. "Don't throw your pondery on me right now, I'm tired. I just wanna—" "Listen to Japanese while avoiding the topic of Etho or your homework?" Pak said, finishing Nebris' sentence for him. Dammit. He's too good. Nebris thought. "Okay then," He started again, "what would you prefer Pak? Homework first and questions later?" "Seems reasonable." Pak said, returning to his writing.
Three hours, dinner, dessert, and a night's worth of homework later, Nebris was relaxing on his bed, listening to Japanese lessons. He recalled his conversation with Etho. Etho was much more interesting than Nebris had first imagined. His red eye was actually a contact lense covering a blind eye he got from a car accident. That also left him with a faint scar over his eye. Etho also really enjoyed logic, and a computer program called 'redstone' "I'd have to show you what it's like in person. It's confusing and a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's so much fun." He chuckled to himself remembering Etho saying that, with his nice deep voice. Wait… what? Why did that just come out of my brain? I don't like him like that. We're just friends… right? Nebris shook his head, as if that would shake the thought from his mind. Let me just try to get some sleep. Hopefully a full night of rest should clear my head. Nebris thought as he pulled the covers up over his head and slowly fell asleep, dreaming of programming and Japanese.
What will become of this new interest! Stay tuned to find out in part three! (which will probably be the last one if I can't figure out how to drag this out :p)
