Oh god I'm so scared to post this after the podcast yesterday.
Pakratt's upside-down spawn house stood in front of MC and Nebris, tall and imposing.
"You think he's in there, Nebs?" MC asked, tightening his grip on his sword to keep his hands from shaking.
Nebris shrugged. "Only one way to find out."
The two men looked at each other and nodded. Carefully, they crept forward and climbed the ladder leading into the upper parts of Pakratt's house.
The front room was empty. MC and Nebris navigated the obsidian-and-iron-bar flooring carefully.
"Pakratt?" MC called. "You here, buddy?"
No answer.
They went down the hall into the storage room. What they found was surprising. There were items strewn all around the floor. Chests were open and their contents overflowing onto the ground. All of the item frames were either smashed or hanging half-off the wall and most of the glass panels had been shattered.
"Oh geez..." MC gasped. It wasn't like the soft-spoken collector to be messy, not at all.
"This isn't good," Nebris remarked.
Looking around, MC noticed that there was something pinned to the wall with an arrow. He pulled it off and looked it over. It was a hastily scrawled note.
"Nebs, come look at this," MC said, calling his friend over.
MC began to read the note over.

If you're readin' this, it means somethin' bad has happened to me.
I've been keepin' a secret from most of ya, and now it's come back t' bite me.
There's another side t' me, one that I keep locked inside most of th' time. If you've ever heard any of my Ponderies, you'd know what I'm talkin' about.
He's gonna escape soon. If you find this letter, whoever you are, stop me. Please.
Somethin' bad will happen if you don't
Stop me
-Pak
P.S. MC, if you're readin' this, then-"
It ended there. That last word ended abruptly, and there was a long line across the rest of the paper, as if the pen had been dragged. MC desperately wanted to know what Pakratt had meant to leave for him. Was it a location? A strategy? ... a confession?
Neither man knew what to say.
MC backed up against the wall and slumped to the ground. "No..." he whispered. So it was true. It was indeed Pakratt that was wreaking havoc on everything. Pakratt, who had been a close friend for a long time, who had helped him figure out all the technobabble that came with all the new energy sources they had, who had been his loyal teammate in many a UHC game... He had finally lost his mind.
Sure, he had always been a little off, but what was wrong with a little eccentricity? It was fun!
But now... nothing was fun. MC was facing the fact that he needed to either stop his friend... or kill him.
"MC?" Nebris' voice cut through MC's thoughts.
"Nebs..." MC said hopelessly, looking up at the purple-eyed man. "Nebs, what are we going to do?"
Nebris extended a hand down to MC, who shakily took it and stood up. "Don't worry. We'll figure this out," he said, putting a reassuring hand on the younger man's orange-clad shoulder.
"I really hope so..."
(To be continued...)
I have a question: should Pondery!Pakratt manifest as an alternate personality, or as a separate person who split off from regular Pakratt (with regular Pakratt being captured and held somewhere)? I have ideas for the story both ways, but I want to know what you guys think.
Once again, thanks for the support!~ <3
