Well, here's part four. I know these have been coming quite often recently, and I hope I'm not spamming anyone's reading page, but these ideas are just going down on paper faster than I can type them! Thank you guys for the support, and I hope you enjoy.(btw, if anyone has any title ideas, they are more than welcome to share them!)Also, a warning: make sure you have time before you start reading this. It's a bit longer than my other posts.
Anna’s POV
I went back over the nightmare in my head. I had been in the same forest, in front of the same castle, with the same feeling, and all of a sudden, my father. My father had always been a horrible memory for me. My mother (of whom I only have one possession; a silver necklace with a tiny diamond charm that she had given me as soon as I was old enough to wear it) died in childbirth with Max, and Dad didn’t want to raise us by himself. He moved us into Uncle Harold’s (his brother) house, where we lived from then on. It was my father that molested me first. He was drunk, and there was no one around. I was only 10 years old. I remember it vividly, though I try not to. One day, my father was in a car accident. He didn’t make it. Uncle Harold started drinking then, and before long he had picked up all of his brother’s old habits. Nothing was sacred anymore, and no one could be trusted. I took it upon myself to take care of Max, since our abusive uncle didn’t seem to care anymore whether we lived or died. I started working when I turned 14, at a local gas station, which gave me an excuse to be out of the house, but left Max vulnerable and unprotected. I’d figured I could adopt Max on my 18th birthday, which was in a month. At least, that was my plan, before I ended up here. Suddenly I was reminded why I had to get home. That was where Max was right then; helpless and alone. I sighed and began to wander around the castle aimlessly, trying to clear my head. I walked and walked in circles through the same hallways and rooms until I had memorized almost the entire castle layout. I figured it might be time to go find something to eat, so I headed back to the storage shed. Just as I turned the corner of the hallway I was in, not paying attention, I almost ran right into VintageBeef, turning the corner in the other direction.
Beef’s POV
I stared into space as I walked around the castle, trying to calm down. I turned a corner, just to find myself face-to-face, or maybe apron-to-face (she was quite a bit shorter than me) with Anna.
“Oh!” I said, grabbing her shoulders before she collided with me. She looked up at me with the same face I had been wearing all morning; stressed and confused. I quickly let go and put my hands back at my side, embarrassed.
“What was that?” She said softly, almost to herself.
I had felt it too, a strange tingling sensation when I touched her. It was as if there was some sort of magic there that was shared between us. I had guessed this for a while, but this proved it.
“Okay, come on.” I said, lightly grabbing her fingers and pulling her down the hall with me towards the main room. The tingling sensation continued. It almost felt… good. I was sure I was going crazy, there had to be a logical explanation, but I couldn’t come up with any. The dreams, the tingling, the strange appearance and reappearance at the castle… Even she had been having strange dreams, which could mean anything really, but I had a feeling it had something to do with this.
“Where are we going?” She asked, confused and looking somewhat scared.
“To see Guude. And then Doc. They’ll know what’s going on if anyone does.”
“Ok…”
“Don’t look so scared. They don’t bite.” I tried to reassure myself of the same thing, but honestly, I wasn’t sure what Guude would think. She had only arrived yesterday and, after a quick dismissal, here she was again, asking the same question. ‘Can I stay?’
We reached the nether portal and I released her hand. “Just step in.” I told her, walking into the purple fog myself. The world began to spin, and as usual, I appeared in my nether track in no time. She came in right behind me. I looked in the chest to grab a couple of minecarts, but I soon discovered a problem.
“Great.” I muttered to myself.
“What’s great?” She asked in a dreading voice.
“There’s only one minecart.”
“I’ll walk,” she volunteered immediately.
“No, I’ll walk.” I countered. There was no sense leaving her behind to potentially be found, by a mindcracker, or anything else.
“No, I don’t want to end up at the end of the track by myself with nowhere to go, what if somebody sees me?”
I sighed. She had a point. “Well, I guess we’ll both walk.” So on we went, slowly walking the distance to the main Nether Hub. When we reached the end of the track, I peeked out of the tunnel, hoping no one would be there. “Come on,” I said, rushing over to Guude and Bdoubleo’s track. I placed a minecart, let her get in, and set it going. I then placed my own, hopped in and pushed the button.
Guude’s POV
“Seriously?” I said to Beef, who was standing in the library in my village, followed by that strange girl. Why did she have to show up again?
“Anna, why don’t you go talk to the villagers? I need to talk to Guude about some stuff.” Beef suggested.
“O- Okay…” she said, looking a little bit embarrassed and nervous. Probably all an act. She left the room.
“So, she just showed up at your castle? In the middle of the night?”
“Well, yeah but…”
“She was trying to steal from you! Didn’t you say she went through your storage room?” I was surprised Beef didn’t see the obvious problem here. But, then again, Beef was always the one to take people under his wing.
“All she took were melons!”
“Yeah, and next it’ll be iron, and then diamonds and emeralds, and she’ll be asking you to enchant stuff for her… She’ll ruin you, Beef. You’re way too giving of a person to have a stranger in your house. She probably already knew about you, and that’s why she made a bee-line for your castle. She knew it would be the easiest way to get supplies.”
“Well, maybe, but…”
“Just think of what would happen to the server! She could be a griefer, and a thief! When she’s stripped you clean of every diamond you own, she’ll come to any one of the rest of us and, of course, they’ll give a pretty girl anything to get her in bed. Do you know how long it has been since any of these guys have even seen a girl? They’ll go crazy! And then she’ll get us to turn against each other, and all the while acting as innocent and unknowing as when she walked in. She’s obviously planning something.”
“Will you just let me talk?” Beef said, getting frustrated. I didn’t know why he would be so sure about this, when the outcome was obvious. Unless…
“Oh no, Beef, has she gotten to you already? You’re in love with her! What did she promise you, one night? Two? Anything to secure her a spot on the server.”
“No, no, it’s not like that. But you’ve got to listen to me, before she got here, I was having dreams about her. It was like I needed her to be around or something. Like she was just meant to be here.”
Anna’s POV
My eyes went wide. I had been listening to the entire conversation, but these last few words took me by surprise. Dreams? Just like I had that dream about him? It had to be a coincidence. But, with all the happenings of the past two days, maybe it wasn’t. It would explain his interest in my dreams, after all.
“Dude, that’s just downright creepy. She’s probably a witch! Maybe she put you under a magic spell or something…”
“Guude, you know that stuff only exists in Feed the Beast. And even then, I don’t think thaumcraft has anything like that. You know it has to mean something.” There was silence for a few seconds, but finally Guude responded.
“If it means that much to you, she can stay. Just remember what I said, okay? Be careful. Women can never be trusted.”
“Weren’t you married once?” Beef asked, “Surely there are some good things about women.”
“Don’t talk about that.” Guude said quickly. “And don’t trust her. You never know what she’s thinking. Alright?”
“Sure. Whatever it takes to figure this thing out.” I heard Beef walk to the door. I spun around and walked up to a villager.
“What are you selling?” I asked.
“Three emeralds for a Smite-two iron sword.” The blacksmith informed me.
What a rip-off… I thought to myself, though the villagers’ prices weren’t the main thing on my mind at the time.
“Anna!” I turned around to face Beef, who had a smile on his face. I couldn’t help but smile myself, despite the turmoil in my head. Beef’s smiles were contagious. “You can stay.”
“Cool!” I said, still nervous. “Where am I staying?”
“Well, I guess you can stay at the inn. It’s never really been used for anything.” I nodded, wondering where this inn was and who owned it. “But first, we have to go see Doc.”
“Who’s Doc? Is he a doctor or something?”
“Well, for the most part. He’s more of a scientist really, but I guess you could say he’s a doctor.” We made our way back to the nether portal and dissolved into the purple haze. (Hah, reference!)
Etho’s POV
“Hello Etho, it’s been a long time.” said an all-too-familiar voice from behind me.
“What are you doing here? You know Guude’s not going to be happy about this.” I said without turning around from my work. I was fixing my mob trap, but having very little luck.
“I know, that’s why I need your help. I heard some stuff happened yesterday.”
“Yeah, I missed it. Apparently some girl showed up and told a ridiculous story about going to sleep in another universe and waking up here. Guude thought she was lying, so he told her to leave. That’s about it.” I had heard the story, but it hadn’t affected me enough to care about it. Besides, my mob trap needed work.
“A girl showed up and they just let her go? Just like that? What were they thinking?”
“Obviously not along the same lines as you are.” I said, finally turning around to face my twin brother for the first time in months. “If she was lying, she obviously didn’t mean well, now did she? I think you would be all too familiar with that logic.”
“If you’re talking about what happened with the whole B-Team thing…”
“Yes, I am, and you’re going to get caught if you don’t get out of here soon. Zisteau, Kurt, and Pause are already busy trying to find the other three. You know I don’t care either way anymore, but I don’t want you getting into more trouble.”
“Okay, okay, I’ll hang low. But seriously, this is big news. A girl shows up and is somewhere out in the wilderness by herself, with no one to protect her? Do you not see the possibilities of this?”
“Look man, I know what you’re thinking, but it’s not worth it. Get lost before something happens.” No doubt he was thinking of joining up with the B-Team again for another ridiculous money-making scheme.
“Etho, I don’t think you understand. I know your one and only love is redstone, but mine is not. I need more than that. There hasn’t been a female on the server since, well, since ever! This is the opportunity of a lifetime; you’ve got to help me out!”
“Erik, the answer is no. Go back into hiding before someone sees you.”
“That wouldn’t be a problem if they thought I was you…” He had a point. We were identical twins, the only difference being his one red eye on the right, while mine was on the left. Even our clothing was similar. There was no way I was going along with that, though.
“Leave, Erik. I won’t turn you in, but you’d better go before I change my mind.”
“Alright!” He said, throwing his hands up in defense. “I’ll go. Don’t get your headband in a knot.” With that, he left, leaving me to my work in the ringing silence of the lab.
Author's note: I had to have a bad guy, but I just couldn't see any of the guys as being that evil, so I took an idea from a video that showed up on youtube entitled, "Evil Etho". There is now a channel by that name and, though it is not well supported by its viewers, it still gave me the idea. I know the whole 'evil twin' thing is a bit cliche, but it fits! Hope you enjoyed!
