Minecraft 2.0 and big news! HYPE HYPE HYPE

Really enjoying all the footage from the closed beta of 2.0 today! Some great new features in this one. New blocks (including stained glass-- finally!), new mobs, and even a new boss mob. If you haven't checked out the snapshot videos, get on it. Really cool stuff.

In related news, Sethbling is joining Mindcrack! Not only that, but he's taking responsibility for the server. I can't wait to see him and the guys playing 2.0 together. And no more survival! What do you guys think of the changes to the server. I think together, this is a great new direction, both for Minecraft and for the Mindcrack server. Watch those videos and gimme your take!

I gotta say, I like Vechs' video the best. That new mode just looks awesome!

It is a good direction for the server, uhm hm. It was just getting so..stale before, uhm hm. Now it'll be all...new and lively! What with those exploding sheep. And cows. And other exploding things.

I was and am still confused as to if this a joke or not but I am gullible ;P I think that guude's video was really funny because of all the space sheep he and BTC send on a journey.

Now that it's officially no longer April first and I'm allowed to admit this is a joke, I kind of like some of the troll features. I watched like seven of the Minecraft 2.0 videos and every time, the flying sheep crack me up. Just think of the fic possibilities. How many sheep are floating around in space by now? Kurt would look through his telescope and chart the orbits of specific sheep. Someone could build a ceiling up in the atmosphere and the sheep would all form this colony in the sky. Maybe there's a lightning storm and the sheep get hit, and all this random wool just falls on someone. What if Millbee ate a golden apple, forgetting there's no roof above him? What would his adventures be? Would Pause try to bring him back down? How would he find him?

I like to think that a few things are going to be actual features. Wouldn't mind those new blocks and structures being in the game. And the flying sheep, though I imagine they'd probably nerf it a little if they did keep it.

I would love fic of spaceman Millbee. My God. They wouldn't even know he was gone until Kurt looked up in the sky one day and saw him swimming around in the clouds. The combination enderpearls, pillars, and fishing rods to try to get him down would be pretty funny.

Coloured glass in particular has been a most-wanted feature for some time, I hope it becomes a real thing.

Yeah, I suspect this was a mix of joke features and real features, because unlike burning out torches, stained glass is something people have been actively asking for.

Are you saying you don't like the burnt out torches? :P They were obviously the best part of the whole update! Them and those blue chickens. (Actually I hope the different colored mobs is going to be a feature, too. Maybe not blue chickens, but a few different types of cows and pigs. Just for some variety.)

Ahh, the blue chickens that periodically explode for no reason. It's like I never realized I had an explodey blue chicken shaped hole in my life until this moment. :P But yeah, I see what you mean about visual variation. Cats already have a few different variations you can get. It shouldn't be too hard to extend that to other animals.

Just as long as the sheep can still fly, man. And maybe the pink wither, assuming it gets nerfed by a lot. I'd be fine with it being the completely useless pet thing that's just there to look stupid and confuse people.

Yeah, that pink wither could be cute. Gotta wonder how the adding heads thing came up, though. Think they'll add that to the wither boss or something? It's a pretty cool effect.

Oh no no, according to Dinnerbone in #mindcrack, sheep hit the lack of air pressure and well, explode.

He never did say if they exploded in a fountain of wool and sheep guts that then fall back to earth though.
