Sunday chat

Because we haven't had one for a while. :)

So, what's on your minds? Observations, squees, general randomness, whatever you fancy having a chin-wag about.

Oh no I just got to Zisteau's Mindcrack episode talking about his DnD character. I used to play a little myself, so that's cool to hear about, but more importantly! I love hearing writers talk about their characters. Like, just listening to him talk about the world building that he already knows so well inside his head, and all the funny little details about the characters. He's so into it and! And! Writers! <3

You know, it reminds me a little of Zisteau himself. He fancies himself a fighter, all tactics and strategy, or maybe a barbarian, rushing in to take on super hostile maps, but I think he's really more of a bard. He loves editing, he loves stories, he loves telling grand tales and pulling the wool over peoples eyes. I can't tell if he's chaotic evil or chaotic neutral, though. As much as he loves his elaborate pranks, he devotes a large amount of time to fighting Vechs. Who is obviously a lawful evil wizard.

And it's funny to me, because I think Kurt is the exact opposite. He'd probably peg himself as a bard, a humble guy trying to inspire others. But I just got around to watching him play Kairo? Man tried to juke a 15 foot wall of solid stone. Barbarian tactics if I ever saw 'em! He's all heart, typical neutral good.

...See, this is what happens when this nerdy writing stuff gets brought up. I just ooze dorkiness everywhere.

Or one of those alignment charts filled in with Mindcrackers. I've had that idea before, but it's not like I'm actually a DnD nerd to actually do it. Plus I have trouble pegging people into alignments.

I almost wanna cal Guude chaotic good, and Pause would be chaotic neutral or something along those lines.

Where would Nebris be? He confuses me because on one hand he's the dirty cheaty cheater who cheats, but then he goes on about justice like it's going out of style.

Neutral good perhaps?

I'm gonna have to disagree with Thero here; breaking other people's rules is "chaotic" by definition, and following your own code (in this case Nebris' justice) is either good or neutral depending on the nature of that code and how it treats other people. Given that Nebris' flavor of justice is rather self-serving, that'd put him at chaotic neutral - and MAAAAAAYBE chaotic good in cooperative situations (e.g. Cobblehaters.)

I LOVE THE NINE ALIGNMENTS SO MUCH OH GOD STOP ME

Yeah, neutral good didn't sound quite right to me either.

Shall we start making lists and stuff for a chart complete with little quotes and everything? :P Can we name at least one example for all the alignments?

Guude is definitely chaotic good (especially with his views on, say, currently not legal substances.) Most "one with nature" types are true neutral; I see Pause there more than I see him as chaotic, but maybe I'm wrong?

True, that might be a better location for him.
