Valentines Single Malt Fluff, Yay!

Ha! Okay, I finished something. I actually honest to Gods finished something and it only took three complete rewrites! Woo! ...It's been a while since I wrote, and it probably shows. Oh well! Enjoy.

Zisteau probably wouldn't have figured it out if it hadn't been for that little yellow bauble. He'd been showing Kurt around the village, giving him a few building tips and some supplies. He'd taken Kurt by the shoulder and dragged him along on an enderpearl. Kurt had grabbed him by the waist, startled. Had Zisteau not looked up at the right moment, he might not have noticed Snarky Yellow Text displaying Easy there, loverboy. over Kurt's shoulder. He probably wouldn't have noticed the way Kurt squeezed him a little longer than necessary, either.

He didn't say anything, of course. He respected Kurt, and if Kurt didn't want to admit his feelings, then Zisteau wasn't going to force it out of him. It was certainly a welcome surprise, and he wondered if Kurt had noticed the extra bounce in his step after that. He'd liked Kurt for a while himself, but was old enough to know better than to go around making grand confessions. Kurt was a good friend. He wouldn't do anything to put that friendship in jeopardy. If it meant nursing a little heartache for a while, then that was more than worth Kurt's friendship.

But this changed things. Zisteau was free to notice little things. Eyes lingering a little too long. Laughter that was a little more than a joke required. Verbal tics of his slipping into Kurt's speech. And Snarky Yellow Text was a bit more lively as well. Zisteau took to petting the little bauble on the head... or on the top of it's letters, anyway. Kurt seemed unduly embarrassed when it displayed a <3 in response.

For a short while, Zisteau thought about confessing. But it seemed wrong to steal that moment from Kurt. He wanted Kurt to have a chance to be brave, and be rewarded for it. And he knew that when Kurt wanted to do something, and got up the courage, he would do it. Kurt wasn't the type to hide his feelings. Snarky wouldn't let him. Every so often it would inform Zisteau over Kurt's shoulder that now was a great time for a hug or the squeeze of a hand. So Zisteau took a shine to waiting.

And when Kurt finally did gather his courage, all Zisteau could do was smile and say, "I know."

Kurt gave a breathy, embarrassed laugh. "God, was it that obvious?"

"Well... I had a little help," Zisteau admitted. His mouth curled into a crooked grin as he titled his head to look over Kurt's shoulder.

Oops, the text read.

Kurt's mouth hung open for a moment. "Augh, you... jerk," he said, swatting at the bauble. "Awww, how long have you known?" Zisteau started counting the weeks on his fingers, and Kurt quickly shook his head. "Oh god, don't answer that."

Zisteau laughed. "If it's any consolation, I like you too."

Relief, and then excitement lit up Kurt's face. "Okay. Awesome! Uh. As in..."

"As in, your text wants you to go in for the kiss, and I think it's right."

"Oh. Ha." Kurt rubbed the back of his neck, grinning widely but clearly embarrassed. "Uh. I'm a liiittle out of practice."

"That's okay," Zisteau assured him. "We've got all the time in the world."

Kurt stepped in a little closer, bowing his head. Zisteau was shorter than him, so he couldn't really hide his face. He couldn't wipe the grin off his face long enough to pecker up, either. Slowly, his hand worked it's way up to one of Zisteau's forearms.

Kurt gulped. Zisteau reached out and took his free hand, giving it a squeeze. Kurt intertwined their fingers for a moment. And then he closed his eyes, held his breath, and leaned forward. Their lips touched. He let himself linger. Zisteau slipped his free hand inside Kurt's coat and held his waist. Kurt leaned back again, lips tingling from the soft touch. Zisteau squeezed his hand.

"Not bad?" Kurt asked.

"Not bad," Zisteau said. Kurt stepped a little closer, wrapping his arm around Zisteau's shoulder. "Pretty good," Zisteau added, hiding halfway inside Kurt's trenchcoat. He buried his face in the crook of Kurt's neck. It was warm, like the nether. Like home.

And the crowd goes wild! read the yellow text. "You are in so much trouble," Kurt said.

"Me?" Zisteau asked, raising his head.

Kurt shook his head. "Snarky."

Zisteau glanced up at it long enough for it to read Quick, you distract him while I make my getaway. Kurt laughed, until Zisteau obliged with "In that case, come get some, Farlander!"
