He didn't record footage of him actually finding it. A little disappointing for me, especially if something terrible does happen later, since I don't know the details surrounding how he found the disc. He also doesn't make any reference to the golden record being special or different like all the other examples have. That might be important in how I frame the curse in potential future installments.
That's true. Something like, as the record gains power from being coveted and feared, perhaps when you truly feel neither of those it has nowhere to gain a 'hold' on you? Probably not so simple, of course. And Zisteau is clever and strong-willed. If to him it's just a music disc, perhaps that is all it will be.
Yeah, something like that. All the special attention is what gave it consciousness to begin with, after all. I had a theory that if someone never heard of the curse, it may not have any effect, but Zisteau must have at least heard about it; he's just not acknowledging it here.
I just want to run experiments and watch what happens. Like if he found it on camera, what would have happened.
Hmm, that's possible. Though personal bias says the other green one (far) is the countercharm, for it is the best record listening-wise to counter 13 being the worst one to listen to. The new one (wait) is also very nice, though I have yet to earn it.
That could be an interesting new element to consider. For a long time, 13 and Far were the only two music discs in the game, and they're still the only two you can get in dungeons. But I'd need to do a lot more research before I would add the green disc to the mythos-- I'd want to look at all the times Guude found a green disc before ever finding his first gold disc, see if I could draw some conclusions from that.
Actually the other-earned-in-dungeons is cat, which is a purer green than the green-and-blue far. It goes 13 & cat which were originally dungeon-only but now also can be creeper-earned, then the others we have all known purely from creeper-earning (far, blocks, mellohi, 11, ward, mall, stal, chirp, strad), and now the new one, wait, which is also creeper-earned.
In related Zisteaunian news, I find it interesting that Beef helped him film the machinima-y bits of Seek the Beast. We know that Beef has a more than passing interest in doing "character-y" things, though he tends to keep it away from Mindcrack (see: Steve vs. Steve as well as Kingdom of the Sky, which is pretty plot-heavy), and it's interesting to see him help Zisteau get more "in character".
Only time will tell if I will ship it, but it just might happen at this rate....
