Sorry for all the short fics.
It has seemed like such a brilliant idea at the time. Etho had found out Nebris had indeed stolen the dragon egg, and had managed to get it to hatch a baby dragon. Since he was so protective of the thing, it only stood to reason that stealing the baby dragon would force Nebris to do whatever Etho wanted, right?
Except the baby enderdragon had other ideas. Angry, burning ideas.
Which is why Etho had locked the enderdragon into a cage in the center of the empty room, and was rushing around with a water bucket putting out the sickly purple flames. He managed to get all the fires out, although they did leave deep grooves in the stone surfaces. Sighing, he turned towards the enderdragon, who was currently gnawing on the bars. They seemed to be holding, but not for very long.
It gave a startled meep when it realized Etho was watching it. It wrapped it's wings tightly around itself, sniffling up at him.
Etho sighed. “No, no. That's not fair. Don't act like I'm about to kill you,” he said to the enderdragon. It shook quietly, making soft whimpers. Despite better judgement, he went over to pat the scared dragon on the head.
He shouldn't have been surprised that the dragon was faking. Learned from Nebris he guessed. But dragon bites hurt.
Etho snatched his hand back before the dragon could latch on, glaring at the angry fall of scales. “You. Are a bad dragon,” he said coldly.
“MEERP,” it said before turning away from him, ignoring him. Etho glared at the baby dragon. He hadn't even sent Nebris a demand letter yet, and the dragon was already running him ragged.
He hated to admit defeat, but he was just not prepared to take care of angry baby enderdragons. He threw several heavy duty blankets over the wriggling, whiny mess of a dragon, with one blanket devoted to just the dragons snout to keep her from breathing those nasty painful flames.
Etho sneaked into Nebris' house quietly, dropping the dragon in a flurry of blankets and claws and wiggles. As he ducked out of the the house, he heard a voice ever so quietly behind him.
“If you had just asked to see the enderdragon, I would have let you. Well, might have made you beg for it a bit,” Nebris said, voice low and amused. Etho grit his teeth before disappearing into the night.
He was not going to beg Nebris for anything. Certainly not for cute enderdragons that could destroy villages.
