Fanfic - Rust

Short fic, based on the fact Pyro wanted to play Rust with Pause and Rob.

“Okay Pause! Apparently Pyro is someplace near the ocean, we gotta go find him. Let us know if you see scary people, okay Pyro?” Rob said as him and Pause trekked towards the closest shore. “We don't want the scary people to take you away!”

“I'm fine. I'm sure nothing is going to happen before you find me oh god what was that!” Pyro said before the sound of gunfire was heard and the audio cut out.

Rob stared at Pause before breaking out into a full run. He smacked at his radio, trying to pick up Pyro again. “Pyro? Pyro! Where are you? Come in little Pyro, earth to Pyro!” Rob shouted into the radio. Pause was playing with his own radio, trying to listen to Pyro also. He shook his head as they continued to run.

“I don't hear him, Rob. He might have been shot. Okay, he was very likely shot,” Pause shouted at Rob as they continued to sprint towards the ocean. Rob gritted his teeth, breathing rapidly as they came to the coast line. Scanning in front of the two of them, Rob held a hand up.

Whispering, he ducked behind a tree, pulling Pause with him. “Shh, look over there. I see three people, one sitting down. You think it might be Pyro?” Rob said, trying to catch his breath.

Pause shrugged. “We could sneak up, see if it's them?” Rob pursed his lips before nodding. The two of them nodded to each other, slinking around nearby rocks and trees until they were just close enough to hear the three unknown people. They were able to recognize that Pyro was indeed among them.

“So, what are you doing out here?” one of the other voices said. The voice sounded older, tired.

“Waiting for some people,” Pyro replied, easily, calmly. Rob rolled his eyes and sighed very quietly. Pyro was going to get all of them killed.

“....will they come and help you?” a younger voice said. The start of the sentence was cut off, the group was too far away.

“I'd sure hope so, or I'd have to kill them later,” Pyro said. Pause touched his forehead briefly, shaking it.

“Let's get them,” Pause said to Rob, the two of them bursting out from behind the rock.

“What was...shit!” the older voice said as he heard Pause, windmilling backwards as he pulled out a shotgun.

“Get down! Back away from the boy, and we won't kill you!” Rob shouted, waving his own shotgun at the two guys. Surprisingly, they both looked at each other before dropping their guns, backing away.

“Now why'd you do that, Rob? They were fans!” Pyro said as he stood up, frowning at his saviors.

“...you found fans in the middle of the wilderness,” Pause said in disbelief.

“Yeah! They're really nice! They gave me a pistol and ammo, and some armour!” Pyro nodded emphatically, the two guys nodding as well.

“We heard gunshots!” Rob said, trying to think of something better to say.

“Yesss...there's zombies everywhere, Rob. They saved me from a zombie,” Pyro said slowly, like he was trying to explain why the grass was green. Rob frowned at Pyro before lightly smacking him on the back of the head. “Oww!” Pyro whined, rubbing his head. “Why'd you do that?”

“You scared us, you idiot! We came running to try and save you. But if you think these guys are okay, we can get going now,” Rob said.

Pause shook his head. “One last thing...you guys got any tuna?” he asked the two guys. They looked at each other, shrugging.

“If we give you the tuna, can we get Pyro's autograph then leave you three to your business?” the younger man said. Rob and Pause looked at each other before shrugging.

After emptying their pockets of tuna, and getting Pyro's signature, the two gentlemen picked up their guns and left.

“They didn't have a lot of tuna...” Pause said, disappointed. Rob patted him on the back, pointing towards the horizon.

“No worries! Now that we have Pyro, we'll go get ALL the tuna!” Rob said cheerfully, earning a laugh from both Pyro and Pause.
