Temporal shenanigans = virtually hopeless situation barring *ahem* temporally drastic measures.
And as good a guy as BTC is... if he comes in to save the day, I can only surmise that such a situation will only hand the hapless heroes from one villain to another in a hand-basket. "... trade one dark master to another..." so to speak.
All in all, unless you're willing to bend the plot over backwards and in all sorts of convoluted circles you haven't already twisted into the weave of the narrative, I can personally see the only 'good and rational' ending for this sort of story being a sad and/or pyrrhic one.
And if that's the case, make it worth it, Ms. Scaredi, as I am not a fan of sad/pyrric endings unless its done in good taste. The story you've fed us thus far a compelling read, and it'd be a shame for the whole story to trip on its own wires now. :3
