Weekend post of weekendness (Meta, Fanart, and Chat)
Thursday, January 17th, 2013 11:50 pmHi!
First off, long time no see! /o\ I'm sorry about that; Mindcrack has been on the backburner for me as I've focused on improving my real life and my own LPing skills (among other things). I'm glad you're all around anyway, and have generally been keeping things going without me.
Welcome to all our new members, and all our newly participating former lurkers! I hope you enjoy it here. Many of you are new to Dreamwidth and similar communities, so I understand if it's hard to navigate at first - please feel free to ask questions!
This community is yours as much as it's mine, so please, PLEASE feel free to contribute with whatever you'd like, whether that be more fanworks, regular community posts, or what have you. You can also help me out a ton by tagging old posts with relevant LPer and fanwork tags (no, you do not need to be a moderator to do this - if a tag is missing, though, let me know!) If you would like to see more active moderation, please let me know! If you are interested in moderation, please PM me and we can chat.
One thing I will mention - which from now on will be a NEW RULE - is the concept of cut tags. Cut tags are how I have this post so long while keeping the front page all short and clean and easy to navigate! You can learn about what they are and how to make them from the official Dreamwidth FAQ.
From now on, all fanworks posts will require cut tags. This includes fanfiction, fanart, mixes, rec lists, and whatever else comes to you. Past fanworks posts have one week as of this post to comply. If posts are found to not comply after January 25, 2013 at midnight EST the original posts will be deleted and reposted by me with the cut tags in place. Obviously, it is still far preferable to do this yourself by editing your old posts - so please do it!
The Group Rewatch has been on hold, as I'm sure you've noticed. My crazy idea was for a single large post of one-off non-prank co-op things, but collating them got really, REALLY crazy, and I don't think it'd work as regular posts the way past seasons of Group Rewatch have been. Would you like Group Rewatch back? Is there any particular series you're dying to see together? Would one of you like to step up and lead us through a season of something interesting of your choice?
Finally, since one of the issues of my attempts at moderation was the fact that I take most weekends off of the Internet, I've collapsed together the fanart and chat posts into a weekend post of weekendness. This will help me do them on time! If you'd prefer the old format, just post for yourself on Sunday and I won't stop you. ;)
And now time for fanart and chat!
FANART: Recently, Sixelona has been tweeting concepts for Mindcracker merchandise, specifically shirt designs for Mhykol and Pyropuncher. We're still looking for more icons - how can you express Mindcrackiness in a 100x100 pixel space?
CHAT: What is one Mindcrack thing that has made you happy recently? What is one non-Mindcrack thing (whether that be Minecraft-related or otherwise) that has made you happy recently?

A non mindcrack thing? I'd have to say homestuck's newest updates. The tricksters are very much entertaining and insane. (⌒-⌒; )

Date: Friday, January 18th, 2013 07:57 am (UTC)On tags: There have been a few posts of mine where I skipped tagging because I'm not sure what to tag it as or how much to tag it. Like in some of my thought dump posts where I talk about a bunch of different things, some of the people I talk about are mentioned so fleetingly I'm not sure if it warrants using the corresponding person tag. What do you think? Also I've had a couple Zeldathon posts that are completely untagged because just using the MC or Silver tags would feel incomplete, if they were discussed at all, but there's nothing else that really applies. I suppose one solution would just be adding a Zeldathon tag, as infrequently as that would be used.
I'm always open to seeing more of the group rewatch, though it'd also be nice to have more participation in it, so I'd also like to see what other people have to say on the topic.
Chat topic: I finally finished part 3 of my fanfic this week, so that made me happy (also happy that people seem to be enjoying it). I've also been enjoying Black Desert, which continues to be entertaining, if a bit disheartening at parts. Though outside of that series and most of MC's videos, I feel like I haven't been watching much Mindcrack lately. :\ What'd be really nice right now is a new season of UHC, but... yeah, not holding my breath on that one.

Date: Friday, January 18th, 2013 01:20 pm (UTC)I would err on the side of more when it comes to tagging; they make things easier for people to find. I will add "Fun for Freedom:" tags for Lucari, Choco, Mike, and Alex. FFF is the larger organization which contains Zeldathon; it also contains a Minecraft server, and I am fairly sure all four of them are highly ranked on that server. In general, if a person is a Mojangsta, they get noted as such; if they are closely affiliated with a server administrated by a Mindcracker, they get that particular server's tag; otherwise they file under "other:". (Thus: If someone discussed the RubenDelight Minecon videos, they would be tagged "Broken Buttons: Ruben," since Ruben is part of the BTC Build Team, which has a server with that name. If JustVan was mentioned significantly he'd be under "VintageBeef FS: Van" as he is a member of that whitelisted server. If the moderator was feeling more egotistical, she'd create a "Mhykol FS: Ms. Mod" tag because that is where she records her LPs. ;))
...and now I just realized how much time I spent writing that, and that I need to update Juice's tag since he's a Hermit now. Edit: This also happened. Augh! Skyzm stays MCFS because that has "priority" over Hermitcraft for purposes of this community. I may be insane. Probably.

Date: Friday, January 18th, 2013 05:30 pm (UTC)I've been very pleased at the revival and rewriting/editing a favourite Transformers fic of mine has been going through. The sheer amount of worldbuilding, characterisation, and development of different cultures and attitudes and way of life in that fic, gosh it just makes me want to be as good a writer and to do more. Very inspiring.
I've really been enjoying Zisteau's videos recently, but Guude's gotten much of my love too. I do miss the vanilla server but I can live with all the FTB for a while longer. It helps that Zisteau's voice is very nice to listen while he helpfully explains everything.

Date: Friday, January 18th, 2013 08:37 pm (UTC)As for non-Mindcrack, all of our cast for our school production getting back onto good relations with the director of the show (and one of my teachers) made me very happy. Means he's not shouting at us anymore heh~
I did do something related to Mindcrack in a 100x100 space... but it's a bit 'meh' to myself... but I'll link it cuz I can xP

Date: Friday, January 18th, 2013 11:04 pm (UTC)Speaking of icons, I need to get myself one. Probably Garamond Italic Ampersand (because pretty)
The snapshots. All the snapshots. Also the super craft bros tournament that went on, that was great. The Castle Crashers series has been a ton of fun.
Stuff?

Date: Saturday, January 19th, 2013 10:56 am (UTC)Non-mindcrack... I've been practicing my singing a little lately. It feels good to sing again after x amount of years. I dug out my guitar, too. I'm still completely rubbish at it, but practicing is nice.
