New Prompt Idea?

Hey! I'm new here and I'm not sure how this all works, but I've been reading all of the very inspiring writing prompts on here and I have been struck with an idea. There are no guarantees that it will be a good idea, but it is an idea. It sort-of comes from my interest in WWFFYs (Who-Would-Fall-For-You stories/quizzes). What if someone were to write a story about not only the mindcrackers, (saltine? lol bad joke) but with a new character; you! A second-person point of view story (obviously fictional and with no relation to real life, how many of us are actually going to make it onto the mindcrack server anyway?) in which you could pair yourself with any mindcrack guy, or guys if you'd prefer, and run with it. This is more of a chance for all the fan-girls and guys out there who fantasize about their favorite youtubers, (don't we all?) to place ourselves in the story. This is probably a bad idea, but again, it is just an idea.

With my knee jerk reaction against Mary Sues in fiction, and especially in fan fiction, this is not something I would see myself doing. Or if I did, I would be sure to subvert all the tropes associated with self inserts, which would probably just make it satire by that point. Actually that kind of sounds fun, especially with second person POV, which is not a perspective I get to play around with much.

I'm new too :) I've just discovered all this fan fiction and I love it XD
I've just made a account so I can keep updated with it now, also part of my New Years resolution to try and write and get better at spelling, being dyslexic I try avoid it as much as possible but I want to try some with the creative and strange mind I've been gifted and at least put it to use :L

Adding yourself would be interesting, you should try it, if it doesn't appeal or turn out well then at least it's been done and you know. I personally probably wouldn't just because I think writing about a experience turn out bette if you have experienced it :) but who knows you could change views!

I've seen these used in other places before and it really needs to be something incredible well written for it to work. I've often seen it done with a gender neutral POV too which was interesting. None of it was for youtubers though, just video game characters. Getting the balance just right and getting the narrative is probably really important for something like this. It could be really interesting but it could also come off very poorly.

It's been my experience that although a lot of people mentality think about themselves with their celebrity or character crushes, most other people are generally not interested in reading such stories. It's all a bit masturbatory, isn't it? Which isn't to say you shouldn't write it if you feel so inspired, just that I am interested in the Mindcrackers for the Mindcrackers and not for fictionalized relationships they have with their fans, if that makes sense, so for my own part I wouldn't be likely to read it. (To be fair, I'm unlikely to read most fics in this fandom anyway, but that'd be my reaction to self-inserts in another fandom I was more actively reading fic in, too.)
