I somehow managed to miss that video, and thanks to the prompt post/discovering this community I finally heard it.

Guh. Seriously. Guh.

Someone write me a Nebris/Anyone fic focused around how hot that voice is, please?

Random Nebris/MC ficbit: why MC really runs Good Morning Mindcrack

(Hi! Welcome to the community! Isn't that Nebris video a doozy? Love how one of the top rated comments on Youtube for it is everyone else agreeing that Nebris' morning voice really is that arousing, oh my goodness. So here's a tiny, horribly unfinished piece of fic that's been rolling around my head for a while. It's not much, but I hope you enjoy it!

This takes place within the universe and timeline of "To Hear the Words of the Universe". In there, "Good Morning Mindcrack" is actually a live radio show broadcasted every morning by MC Gamer, discussing news on people's builds and such across the land. It's often used as a platform for hiring work, advertising shops, and the like; people can call in or send messages to MC to announce such things as these...or just to chat with MC about whatever, as we'll see.

Also this is me totally indulging in my super weirdo rarepair. Wheeeeeee~!)

****

MC sat back at the console and put blocks into the jukebox, taking a small break to rest his voice. There had been many announcements this morning - Etho announced his willingness to buy property in exchange for large sums of emeralds, Mhykol advertised his new mold cleaning service, and Guude made that weird request for a guide to the Nether. He wasn't sure what that last one was about, but he knew going into the Nether led to no good. Ghasts were frightful things, and Blazes doubly so, and even the Pigmen could be trouble if one wasn't cautious. To go to the Nether intentionally on a long journey seemed suicidal - certainly not something a sensible man with a long-term partner and a long life ahead of him should be doing. What was Guude thinking?

The phone ringing snapped MC out of his reverie. He put on his announcer voice - clear and light, with energy and cheer, the MC everyone knew and loved. "Good morning Mindcrack, this is MC Gamer, how may I help you this fine morning?"

"Hey MC." It was Nebris, that self-proclaimed knight. He sounded like he had just woken up, his voice deeper than usual, husky and just a little bit imposing. MC was suddenly glad his show was a radio show, as his face flushed and he squirmed in his chair.

"Hello Nebris!" MC replied, trying to hide his reaction under his normally cheerful demeanor. "What brings you to the show today?"

"Just wanted to talk to you, see how you were doing. It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"Y-yeah, it has." MC chuckled, nervously.

Nebris laughed, sultry and strong. "Why don't you come visit me after you're done with the show today? We'll be able to talk a bit more, you know, really catch up on things."

The thought of it - listening to that voice, deep and naturally seductive, telling stories and jokes, all targeted to MC and MC alone, while being able to see Nebris' brilliant violet eyes and effortless smile - made MC's heart race. How does you do it? MC thought, barely able to speak. How do you sound so good without even thinking about it? How can you affect me like this with something as trivial as small talk? "T-that sounds good, Nebris, that sounds good," he replied, voice trembling slightly. Do you hear that, Nebris? Do you hear what you do to me? "I'd love to really hear from you."

Another short laugh. "I'm sure you would, MC," Nebris replied, and MC could hear the amused smirk in the other man's voice. "Well I'd better let you get back to the show; I want to submit an offer to Guude, anyway. But yes, head over when you can, and we'll talk about that later!"

"Sure thing, I'll hear from you soon," MC said. He put down the reciever, pushing aside the questions in his mind - about why Nebris would take on such a crazy offer, about why he was fixating so much on Nebris' well being, about the sound of Nebris' voice reverberating in his memory. The last notes of blocks played, high and clear, and he got back to work.

Thank you!

To be fair, I've been shipping them together since CobbleHaters Season 2. XD And they're not even a quarter as overt as Pause/any-of-Pause's-boyfriends or OOG. It's a little bit like Single Malt Scotch in that they don't intentionally play it up, but they are very compatible in terms of commentary and gameplay - but they're younger than Kurt (and probably younger than Zisteau, though I don't think Z's ever revealed his age.)

I'm so tempted to have an entire side story of "To Hear the Words" which explores their relationship; MC's got a crush but is in denial, while Nebris also has a crush but is horribly bad at showing it, other than to be snarky and teasing all the time. But if Nebris ends up being the one hired by Guude, MC is going to fret and fret and fret about how Nebris is doing and be completely annoying to anyone who will listen (mostly Pakratt, possibly also Mhykol, Pause, and/or Millbee).

...why am I planning side stories when I've gotten nowhere with the main story in the last few weeks? Damnit, guy.

Did you ever see the episode of Challenge Mindcrack where Nebris comes by to help MC clear out his underwater palace? I was surprised at how good their commentary was.

You should definitely do sideplots in your big story. You don't have to make much of it ever, but just little references and the occasional separate ficlet like this would be awesome.

I did, I did, but not until after CobbleHaters! ...and now I want to go watch it again! XD They're so sweet together in their own surprising little way, I love it.

I'm insanely happy to read more of this world, so insanely happy. Love the radio show, it's cute and so's this paring actually. So, I wonder how many offers Guude will get. And I wonder what made him think of the Nether. God, I wonder how he's coping with Bdubs? So much to love in this world!

Thank you, thank you!

Jason needs to end up in the End eventually, and he knows that thanks to a little bit of extra exposition (which I hope ends up being "cool and interesting" instead of "fourth wall breaking and Mary Sue-ish", ugh). The thing is, that'd be trivial if the world was built up exactly like the actual server; just hop over to the Ender Ender! So I decided the Nether and the End are still mostly untamed - besides, in a "hardcore world" (i.e., with a fear of permadeath) why go to the Nether if you don't have to?

So Jason's going to need some Eyes of Ender, thus Blaze Powder, thus a trip to the Nether - and Bdubs refuses to let him go alone, and really would like an extra guide. There will probably be competing offers from Etho (who studies the Blazes) and Zisteau (as the world's most rebellious Zombie Pigman, choosing to build and live in the overworld), though I haven't decided which offer OOG will take yet.

And speaking of OOG, I think (and hope) you'll like what I'm doing with their relationship. The fact that it's canon in "this world" has interesting implications for the "real world" of To Hear the Words...and I'm going to leave it at that. :P Overall, I have most of the plot set up, but none of the details. Siiigh.

Well, there's always the option of Guude accepting all offers and then you have the guides all giving each other funny looks and trying to figure out if they can trust each other or not, Etho and Nebris especially. Though I can see them struggling to accept Zisteau. That could lead to some fun times. Zisteau is a native of the Nether, I can see him trying to get the others to go for a swim in lava because he can himself, the he remembers not everyone is fireproof XD

...that's genui! ;) I've been thinking that Jason entering their world will sort of be this accidental catalyst for bringing everyone together, just like how real!Jason has brought all these diverse people together on the server, and that's a great way to start.
